Carmella Mazzacane Bonini, 92, of North Haven, (formerly of West Haven) passed away peacefully on March 13. She was the wife of the late Joseph Bonini. Born in New Haven on January 11, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Ferdinando and Theresa Romano Mazzacane. Carmella had worked as a seamstress for the New Haven Coat Company and the Bradley Coat Company. She was a former member of the North Haven Senior Center. She enjoyed bingo, crocheting, and was and excellent speller! Most of all, her family was the center of her life. She will be greatly missed as she was the best mother and grandmother! Carmella was the mother of Joanne (Paul) Chvisuk and Linda (Chuck) Reiss of North Haven and Jerry (Helga) Bonini of Southbury and is also survived by seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Predeceased by a sister, Mary Mazzacane Bouchard and grandchild, Nicholas Chvisuk.
Private funeral services have been entrusted to the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. There will be no visiting hours. Interment will be privately held in All Saints Cemetery. The family would like to extend thanks to the staff at Mary Wade and Franciscan Hospice Care for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Mary Wade Home in New Haven or Franciscan Hospice Care in Meriden.
An Aunt a godmother and a best friend. She was a gentle soul so laid back taking everything in stride. Although we list touch over the years I loved Aunt Connie and my mother loved her as her very best friend. She will be forever in our hearts. Our thoughts and prayers are with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
My deepest sympathies to Carmie's family!!!! Love that lady so much – she was an icon at the Senior Center. May she rest in peace.
