Robert W. Stanley, 53, of North Haven, entered into rest on Thursday, May 16, 2013. He leaves behind Diane (Lane) Stanley of 27 years. He is survived by his son Brian Lane Stanley of Cambridge, MA, daughter Jennifer Jane Stanley of North Haven and his two beloved bulldogs Capone and Daisy. He was born in New Haven on September 10, 1959 to Opal “Vicky†(Haugh) Stanley and Robert Stanley of FL. He was a graduate of Guilford High School, class of 1978, earned his B.A. in Biology at Quinnipiac University in 1983, and earned the title of Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) in 1995 from the Wharton School of UPenn. Bob worked diligently as an Implementations Program Manager at Aetna and had been with the company for over 30 years. During his youth he was a DJ at Roller Haven where he met many of his life-long friends. Bob was also very active with Troop 810 and helped to guide many young men to attain the rank of Eagle Scout. Bob was a member of the Branford Widow’s Son Masonic Lodge. He was an avid collector of antiques, enjoyed restoring vintage cars, and was always eager and willing to lend a helping hand. He is survived by his two sisters, Dede Guerrera and Laura Christian of FL. He leaves behind many loved ones including nieces, nephews, a great nephew, his in-laws William and Eleanor Lane of North Haven, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Gary and Ellyn Lane of Wallingford. He was predeceased by his nephew Bubba Guerrera.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday morning at 11:00 in the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. The visiting hours will be Thursday from 4 to 8 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bob may be made to the Animal Haven, Inc., 89 Mill Road, North Haven, CT 06473.
With very fond memories of working with Bob for 15 years at Aetna. All memories are enjoyable. B

Bob was very charismatic and had a way that drew people to him. I’m a better person for having known him because he showed me to look past the stuff that really didn’t matter. I hope that happy memories of Bob help his family and friends to deal with their loss. Rest in peace Bob.

We are so shocked to hear of Bob’s passing. Our family has known Bob since he was a baby. Our condolences to his wife and children, and to Vicki and Bob whom we’ve also known for many, many years. We just don’t know what to say – it’s so sad to lose a loved one and we’re just so sorry.

My most sincere condolences. Many times when someone passes on you hear how nice the person was but in THIS case I can honestly say that Bob’s kindness went above and beyond what we have grown to expect in our busy every day lives. I didn’t work with him very long but his graciousness has left a lasting impression. My prayers are with his family.
