George P. Taragowski, 86, of Mill Pond Road, Hamden, passed away Thursday, September 10, 2015 at the Apple Rehab of West Haven. He was the husband of the late Ann Carmody Taragowski. George was born in New Haven on May 10, 1929; son of the late Vincent A. and Katheryn Wood Taragowski; served his country faithfully in the US Army during the Korean war and had worked as a Field Auditor for the State of Connecticut Labor Department Unemployment Division for 25 years until his retirement. He was a member of the United Commercial Travelers and the Elm City Banjo Society. Father of Judith (Antonio Sr.) Costantino, Barbara (Hernando) Chaves and the late Donald G. and William R. Taragowski, Sr. Also survived by eight grandchildren and four great grandsons. Predeceased by his siblings Kathleen T. Hanchuruck, William V. and Robert C. Taragowski, Dorothy T. Ludington and Eleanor T. Mursko and by his longtime companion Eleanor Kacy.

 

His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Saturday at 9:30 am. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Therese Church at 10:00 AM. Interment with full military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Friday from 4 to 8 pm.
