Joseph F. Pernice, 97, of Wallingford passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2014 at the Masonicare Health Center, Wallingford. He was the husband of the late Marie E. Remillard Pernice. Joseph was born in Long Island, New York on July 3, 1917; son of the late Frank and Marie Scarpulla Pernice; served his country faithfully in the US Army during WWII; had worked as a photographer for the former Walkers Studio and later was a Census Taker for the US Government until his retirement. Step-Father of Robert E. Johnsey, Sr. and his wife Sandy. Step-Grandfather of Jodi Wilson, Steven and Michael Kunde. Great-Grandfather of Rachel & A.J. Johnsey, Gabriella & Jackson Kunde. Predeceased by his grandson Robert E. Johnsey, Jr. and a sister Marie Halstead.
His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Saturday at 9:00. Friends may call from 8:30 to 9:00 am. A Mass of Christian burial will follow in St. Barnabas Church, North Haven at 9:30. Interment with full military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
