Johanna “Hanna” Daiber Stano, 91, formerly of New Haven, passed away peacefully at the Village Green, Wallingford on Sunday November 22, 2015. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank D. Stano. Johanna was born March 18, 1924 in Odessa, Russia to the late Waldemar and Antonia Pienta Daiber. She came to America in July 1949 with her twin sisters Gertrud and Irma. She retired from SNET in December of 1989. Johanna traveled to Germany, Bermuda, Georgia, Florida, Colorado, Washington, California, Maine and Canada. She also loved going to the beach. She crocheted countless afghans for family and friends until arthritis took over her hands and body. Johanna is survived by her sisters Gertrud (Robert) Steinle and Irma Gordon. Nephews & nieces Kenny (Christy), Ricky, Raymond (Heidi), Edward (Maryjane), Albert (Sue), Ronald (Deb), Heidi, Michelle (Ron) and Diane (Tim). Great nephews & nieces, Kenny, Christopher, Brian, Jason, Kyle, Gunnar, Ivan, Christopher, Parker, Jennifer, Melissa, Nicole & Summer and several great-great nephews & nieces, cousins and extended family & friends. She was predeceased by two young sisters in Russia, many aunts, uncles, cousins, brother-in-laws Ken Dotson and Ken Gordon and a nephew Butch Steinle.

Family and friends are invited to go directly to the office of St. Lawrence Cemetery, 280 Derby Avenue, West Haven on Monday morning at 11:00 to attend a graveside service. The visiting hours will be Sunday from 2 to 5pm in the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Seeing Eye, P.O.
