Richard A. Kivela, 81, of North Haven, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at the CT Hospice, Branford. He was the husband of 23 years to Veronica Hamel Kivela. Richard was born in Teaneck, NJ on October 5, 1933; son of the late Armus and Hilja Makinen Kivela; graduated from Stevens Institute in Hoboken, NJ where he earned a degree in Engineering; he was an Estimator for RAK from 1993-2014; he enjoyed carpentry and fishing. Father of Kim (Bruce) Hanson and Richard S. (Carrie) Kivela. Grandfather of David Hanson, Jessica and Stephanie Johnston, and Owen Kivela.
Private funeral services have been entrusted to the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue.
