Anne Theresa Vernale Cottiero of Cheshire, a former resident of Hamden for 45 years passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 11, 2016 at the MidState Medical Center, Meriden with her family by her side.  She was the beloved wife of 57 years to Anthony A. Cottiero.  Anne was born in New Haven on April 4, 1935; daughter of the late Michael and Margaret Martino Invernale; was employed by Dun & Bradstreet, a Financial Rating Group and later worked for the former Howland-Steinbach’s Department Store of Hamden.  Anne loved to garden, cook, bake, enjoyed walking, movies, plays, and her travels to Aruba, California, Canada, Florida, Las Vegas, Bermuda, Paradise Island, St. Thomas and for the past 47 years her favorite vacation was in Westerly (Misquemicut) Rhode Island, walking the beach, meeting old friends and making new ones.  Loving mother to Thomas Cottiero and Julie Vaill;  Beloved Nana to the “Loves Of Her Life” NicholasVaill and Taylor Anne Vaill.  Sister of Mary Simoes, Dolores Skartsilas (Bill), Pauline Acampora and the late Anthony, Nicholas and James Vernale.

Family and friends are invited to go directly to St. Joan of Arc Church, 450 West Todd Street, Hamden on Thursday morning at 10:30 to attend a Mass of Christian burial and are also invited to attend the committal services immediate following in Centerville Cemetery, Hamden.  There will be no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 200 Executive Blvd., Suite 4B, Southington, CT  06489.
