Helena D. Walters McKee, 95, of Hamden passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 with her family by her side at the CT Hospice, Branford. She was the beloved wife of the late Walter J. McKee, Sr. Helena was born in Utica, New York on October 23, 1919; daughter of the late Charles F. and Ida Berube Walters. Mother of Helena McKee and Walter (Lisa) McKee. Grandmother of Jennifer (Chris) Gaetano and Lauren (Alex) Thorne. Great Grandmother of Nicholas and Caprina Gaetano, and Zachary Thorne. Sister of Lorraine Pleu and the late Charles F. and Shirley Walters. Also survived by nieces and nephews. Helena retired from Southern Connecticut State University after working for over 25 years. She was a member of the New Haven Emblem Club and the Hamden Woman’s Club. She enjoyed reading, needlework, trips to the casino and Cape Cod.
Her funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Saturday morning at 9:30. Family and friends may call from 8:30 to 9:30 am. A Mass of Christian burial will follow in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 10:00. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
