Shirley G. Rice Skibitcky, 78, of West Haven, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at the St. Raphael campus/Yale-New Haven Hospital with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of 58 years to Thomas F. Skibitcky. Shirley was born in New Haven on November 10, 1936; daughter of the late Arthur I. Rice, Sr. and Gertrude Mary DeForge Rice. She had worked for Sears-Roebuck for 25 years until her retirement; was an avid golfer; enjoyed traveling, horseback riding, loved music, singing and in general just having a good old time. Mother of Thomas J. Skibitcky and Daniel D. (Angela) Skibitcky. Grandmother of Thomas James, Taylor Jean, Janaia and Danny Skibitcky. Sister of Louise Tierney, Catherine (Theodore) Olesen and the late Arthur I. (Priscilla) Rice, Jr.
Funeral services will be conducted in the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Tuesday morning at 11:30. Family and friends may call from 9:30 am until time of service. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.

When I think of my Auntie Shirley, I feel all the love and joy we shared over the past thirty three years. She was not only my Aunt, but my dearest friend, and a 2nd mother to me.
