Joseph D. Carangelo, 84, of Branford, passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at the St. Raphael’s Campus of Yale-New Haven Hospital. Husband of the late Carmella Constantino Carangelo. He was born September 22, 1929; son of the late Carlo and Vincenza Pasqua Carangelo. Joseph had served his country faithfully in the U.S. Army, was the owner of Accurate Scale Service of CT, was a member of the Prihillian Club, was a very active parishioner of St. Anthony’s Church and was an avid Yankees fan. Father of Anne Davis and Carl (Michele) Carangelo. Grandfather of Michael Davis, Joseph and Nicole Carangelo. Predeceased by his brothers, Anthony and Salvatore Carangelo, and sisters, Helen Armellino and Ann Marie Carangelo.
His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, North Haven Saturday morning at 9:30. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Anthony’s Church, New Haven at 10:00. Entombment will follow in St. Lawrence Mausoleum. The visiting hours will be Friday from 5 to 8 pm. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony’s Church, 25 Gold Street, New Haven, CT 06519.
