Donald M. Carrano, 76, of Branford, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 15, 2014 at the Connecticut Hospice, Branford.  Donald was born in New Haven on September 30, 1937; son of the late Domenick Carrano, Mary Liguori Hillo; step-son of the late Frank W. Hillo and Mary Carrano.  He was a graduate of Boardman Trade; served his country in the US Army; was the owner and operator of the former Donca Construction Co. and the former Donca Wood Products in Branford.  Donald had worked as a Project Manager for Petra Construction of North Haven until his retirement.  Brother of Andrew Carrano (Rochelle), Carmine (Chip) Hillo (Joan), Maria Hillo Stevenson (Peter) and AnneMarie Cook (Jim).  Also survived by three aunts, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted in the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Wednesday morning at 11:00 with the Rev. Timothy Meehan officiating.  Family and friends may call from 9:30 am until time of service.  Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the CT Hospice, Inc., 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT  06405.
