Mrs. Halina S. Martin, 103, of Meriden, formerly a resident of Pleasant Ave., East Haven for 50 years passed away on Monday May 30, 2016 at the Apple Rehab, Coccomo, Meriden. She was the wife of the late William S. Martin for 57 years. She was born in Branford on April 16, 1913 to Anthony and Ursula Kowalewska Siemiatkowski and grew up in Branford. Halina was employed at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft for 25-1/2 years and retired as an Inspector in 1978. She was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church in New Haven and a member of the St. Stanislaus Ladies Social Club. She was also a member of the New Haven Council of Catholic Women, and a former member of the Hamden Emblem Club #396. She belonged to the Senior Centers in East Haven, Ridge Road, Hamden and in Meriden. She was the mother of Carole Bowden of Russell, Ohio, William S. Martin, Jr. (Marisa) of Meriden and the late Pam Remian of North Haven. Grandmother of Todd Bowden, Craig (Nancy) Bowden and Holly (David) Hillburn. Great-grandmother of Hannah, Jasmine and Maya Bowden. She leaves several nieces and nephews. She is survived by her sister, Edith Houser of Woodbridge and was predeceased by two sisters, Regina Sellman and Eleanor Capaldo as well as two brothers, Edwin and Caby Siemenn. She was also predeceased by two son-in-laws, Tom Bowden and Walt Remian.    

Halina’s funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue Friday morning at 10:30. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 9:00 to 10:30 am. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Stanislaus Church in New Haven at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Should friends desire, contributions in Halina’s memory may be made to a charity of their choice.
