It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Agnes Femniak Bowen. She was married for 69 years to the late Ernest Bowen. Born in 1923, she was a daughter of Daniel and Mary Magna Femniak and was raised in Spring Glen. She was a fulltime housewife and mother of five daughters. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, traveling and card games. Her daughters and grandchildren remember her beautiful flower gardens, which she planted each spring from seeds saved from the previous year. She enjoyed bus trips visiting sites throughout the country with her daughter Diana. She was an avid reader, enjoyed summer concerts on the Green, family bonfire picnics, and visiting the seashore. Sunday dinner was a favorite mealtime with family. Agnes was very proud of her five daughters: Patricia (Frank), Christine (Herb), Kathleen (Victor), Diana (Albert) and Jean (John); and her grandchildren Virginia (Donald), Deloris (Eric), Regina (Matthew), Richard (Cathie) Raymond (Kelly), Michael (Nicole), and her great grandchildren Brittany, Hayley, Anthony, J.P, Willow and Sofia. The youngest of nine children she was predeceased by her brothers and sisters. Her family supported her wish to remain home surrounded by her loved ones for which she was grateful. Conversations always ended with “Love you bunches and bunches” which was repeated right back to her.
Family and friends are invited to go directly to the office of All Saints Cemetery, 700 Middletown Avenue, North Haven on Friday morning, February 3rd at 10:45 to follow in procession for a graveside serve at 11:00.
Our hearts are with you all. So sorry we could not be there.
To My Dearest Grandma I have so many memories and special thoughts of you. You helped raise me and you taught me so much. I loved to watch you make Grandpa his favorite yellow cake with chocolate frosting. You always made me and Ginna sunny side up eggs and bacon after you ‘woke up a little”. We had to wait but knew it was going to be good and made with love. Christmas was a great tradition at your house. All the food you and Grandpa made was so yummy. The family grew and the space was tight but we all fit and enjoyed the holiday together. The tradition carries on now at my house or Lee’s. Summer parties were also fun knowing you were watching us swim in my pool while on the swing. We all took turns swinging with Grandma and she loved all the conversation we shared. The last few parties you stayed late into the night by the bonfire and toasting marshmallows. We were so lucky to have you in our family for 99 years. I once told you that you were the glue that held our family together and you laughed. But it’s true and we will miss you. I will try to be the glue now and keep us together. I can go on and on but I will wrap this up now. I love you bunches Grandma!
So very sorry for your loss.
Rejoice in your loving memories and she will be with you forever.
Keeping you all in my prayers,
Kirsten
