Alan R. Spano, 78, of North Haven, formerly of Fairfield passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 27th, 2024 at Yale New Haven Hospital.  He was the beloved husband of 45 years to Maryjane Sansone Spano.  Alan was born in Bridgeport on July 11th, 1945 and was the son of the late Ernest and Mildred Judson Spano. Devoted father of Amy Milligan (Ryan) and Robert Spano. Loving grandfather of Benjamin and Ryleigh Milligan.  Dedicated brother of Linda Sisko (Joseph) and Vincent Spano (Judy).  Proud godfather of Douglas Sisko (Rosanne).

Alan worked for the US Postal Service for 40 years, retiring as a Clerk. He was fiercely protective of his loved ones well-being and would never show up anywhere empty-handed; always offering a smile, food, & good conversation).  He enjoyed singing in the choir when he was young, watching Hallmark, Lifetime, & the Food Network in retirement, observing the always changing seasons, adventuring to the casino, and most of all, being “Papa Al” and spending time with his grandchildren whom he loved unconditionally. 

The visiting hours will be Wednesday, April 3rd from 10:00 to 11:30 AM at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue.  A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish at St. Barnabas Church, 44 Washington Avenue, North Haven at 12 Noon. Interment will private and at the convenience of the family in St. John’s Cemetery, Stamford.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-9929.
