Alban “Al” Russell, 92, of East Haven, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 9th, 2023 at Yale New Haven Hospital/St. Raphael campus. He was the beloved husband of the late Patricia A. White Russell. Al was born in New Haven on April 23, 1931 and was the son of the late Alban L. and Mary Estelle Cody Russell. He grew up in West Haven, graduated from West Haven High School and served in the US Army Reserves for two years. Al attended and graduated from UConn Agricultural School and the former Quinnipiac College. He worked many years as an auditor for the Federal Milk Market Administration until his retirement. Alban was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was a fan of the Boston Red Sox and the UConn Women’s basketball team. Al “Pop” loved spending time with his three granddaughters. He and his wife, Pat, spent many happy summers with family and friends at their cottage on Cape Cod. He will be remembered for his sweet tooth and love of all things chocolate. Father of Mary Russell, David Russell and his wife Caryn. Grandfather of Delaney, Teagan and Kelly. Brother of Robert Russell and his wife Carol.
The visiting hours will be Thursday morning, Sept. 21st from 10:00 to 11:30 at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish at St. Therese Church, 555 Middletown Avenue, North Haven at 12:00 PM. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery
