My sympathy to all of Al’s family. May fond memorizes sustain you during this difficult time. Al was a close and warm colleague of mine for many years. His love of children and teaching made him an inspiration for others.
My deepest Sympathy to the Pokrob Family…My wife and I spent many happy Summer vacations at the Family Chalet at Mountain Lakes in New Hampshire, through our association with Al & Eleanore….In later years, we shared many fine dinners at the Village Inn in East Haven, and the restaurant in Middletown called “OUR PLACE”….Al will truly be missed…May he rest in the eternal Peace of Our Lord, Jesus Christ…..Marty Carlo, Jr.
Mr Pokrob was a great influence and teacher for the kids on the Northford side of the town. If you grew up in his area you had an extra benefit of crossing his path often. No matter how old you were he always took an interest in your life and that of your kids. I’m sure he will be missed by many. Sympathy to his family. We were blessed for being in his classroom.
Mr. Pokrob was my 5th grade teacher in 1956-57. He was always my favorite teacher and an
outstanding role model to all his students. At recess he used to roll up his sleeves, loosen his
tie and play touch football with all the boys.
He was so supportive in 1957 when our house was destroyed by fire.
In his later years I had the opportunity to meet with him when he was
doing carpentry work on a friend’s home.
Thank You Mr. Pokrob for being a part of my life.
