Alice M. Butkus Kankel, 77, of North Haven passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 28th, 2022 at the Connecticut Hospice, Branford. She was the beloved wife of 56 years to Douglas R. Kankel. Alice was born in Waterbury on September 27, 1944 and was the daughter of the late William and Rose Baltramaitis Butkus. Alice was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. She was a knitter, an avid gardener and a news junky, but her passion was her family. She was kind, considerate and funny, and she loved life. For those that knew her, she is irreplaceable. Mother of Mark Kankel (Kathleen) and Christopher Kankel (Lila Guterman). Grandmother of Brynn, Reid, Augusta and Seymour. Predeceased by her brothers August and William Butkus.
