On April 19, 2023, Amanda Pugliese of Woodbridge went to rest after a courageous battle with Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis. She was 35 years old. A kind and gentle soul, Amanda was happiest in the company of those she leaves behind: her husband Peter and their son Nolan, the light of her life; her parents Carol (Steve Tumicki) and Trent Jr.; her brother Trent III; her in-laws Michael and Donna; and her brothers-in-law Andrew, and his wife Chelsea, and Mike, and his wife Krista and their sons Giovanni and Carmine. Amanda was born on April 11, 1988, in Windham, CT. After graduating from Windham High School, in 2006, Amanda earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Southern Connecticut State University and a sixth-year diploma from Quinnipiac University. During her ensuing career as a special education teacher, first at Hope Academy and then at Carrigan Intermediate School, students and colleagues admired Amanda for her charisma and compassion. Amanda will be fondly remembered as a loyal and genuine friend, who, at her best, was sweet, serene, and free. A thoughtful gift giver, she enjoyed shopping but more so loved singing, dancing and just laughing. One of Peter’s dearest memories is driving an old RAV4 cross-country with Amanda in Costa Rica, barefoot, windows down, her salt water, dirty blonde hair blowing in the breeze as she sang along to the Lumineers, knowing every word as she always did. Those were the days!  Special thanks to Karin Christley, a living liver donor who, in 2019, gave Amanda the incredible gift of a reprieve from her health struggles and an extension of her life. That act of selfless generosity produced a Christmas miracle in 2020: Nolan’s birth. Amanda adored her son and shined brightly as a devoted and loving mother.  Through the challenges of recent months, Amanda remained true to herself and to her friends and family, who will always remember and cherish her and her happy, healthy days. She will be dearly missed by all but remain forever in our hearts.

Friends and relatives may greet the family from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Sunday, April 23 at The Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, North Haven. Her committal service will take place at 11:30 am on Monday, April 24 at Eastside Cemetery, 157 Pease Road, Woodbridge. At the family’s request, contributions can be made to PSC Partners Seeking a Cure [http://pscpartners.org].
