Andrew Richard Abate was a devoted and caring husband, dad, brother, friend and devoted Roman Catholic. He passed away peacefully after a long battle with dementia on Friday, November 12th at the age of 78. Andrew was known for his generosity, kindness and his dry sense of humor. He loved spending time with his wife, sons, family and pets. He was an avid golfer who loved to travel (especially to Disney World) and was proud of his Italian heritage, which originated in the village of Tramonti. Andy was a fan of UCONN Huskies basketball. He spent his life working as a computer consultant and ran his own companies. Andrew is survived by the love of his life and wife Patricia Abate, his two sons Andrew and Robert and his siblings, Orlando Abate, Virginia Remington and Joanne DiSantis — and his little chihuahua friend who he named Fonzi.
The visiting hours will be on Monday, November 15th from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at The Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 11:30 AM. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 200 Executive Boulevard, Suite 4B, Southington, CT 06489, in his name.
Sorry for your sadness at this time. Andrew is now at peace with his mom n dad.
We had a lot of laughter in those days, I remember vividly when he was a teenager, bit younger, him cutting his knee on Circular Avenue.
Those were fun times of our youth. Laughter.
God bless.
