Angela “Angie” Mut Mattei, 89, of Hamden passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 21st, 2022 with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Dominic S. Mattei. Angie was born in New Haven on March 16, 1933, was the daughter of the late Vincent Mut, Mary Schettino Nigretti and Anthony Nigretti who raised her. She had worked for the Children’s Center, Hamden for 33 years until her retirement. Angie was a New York Yankee fan, enjoyed frequent trips to the casino, loved to cook for her family, her favorite things to make were pizza and chicken cutlets, and she was a devoted contributor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis, TN. Mother of Rosanne F. Mattei, Carolann M. Baldino and the late Anthony D. Mattei. Sister of Joseph Mut, Rosalie Palma (Peter) and the late Louis Mut and Maryann Cretella. Also survived by seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
The visiting hours will be Sunday, July 24th from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at The Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Paul IV Parish at Blessed Sacrament Church, Hamden on Monday morning, July 25th at 10:00. Entombment will follow in the St. Lawrence Mausoleum.

Angie you are missed. I always enjoyed our lunches that you made for me ( potatoes and eggs) ( squash and eggs) with are friendship filled with laughter over the years. Keep smiling! 😊
Carol and Rosanne, so sorry to hear of your moms passing.she was a very nice lady the short time I knew her.I’m remembering all the days us kids played in the yard and road our bikes around the block and just hanging out on the front porch. Angie, you where like my second Mom. I could talk to you about anything and you never judged me you just loved me. We had so many good times, especially at the casino. You were the queen of 3 card poker. Angie you will always hold a special place in my heart you will be loved by me forever. You are one special lady 💕 I thank God for putting you in my life.
