Angela B. (Dorsa) O’Brien 82, of Hamden passed away with dignity but most of all peacefully on Wednesday, July 6, 2022. She was the beloved wife of James A. O’Brien. Angela was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA then raised in Hollis, Queens, New York. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Ann Hudak and Grandaughter of the late Joseph and Eva Karvas. Angela’s maternal grandmother was one of her strongest role models. Eva traveled from Lithuania, at the age of 16 to make a new life for herself. After attending Jamaica High School, Angela attended The Flushing Hospital School of Nursing and graduated with the class of 1960 and was awarded with the United Honors, Dignity, & Humility honor. Angela married and settled in Hamden,Connecticut to raise her family. She started her career while working at the Yale New Haven Hospital GRACE building where she specialized in Neo-Natal care. From there, Angela branched out to Geriatrics and worked at Arden House for the next 30 years. During this time, she had met James and they married in 1997 and enjoyed many years together traveling, gardening, remodeling their home and working on many projects together. They were very involved in their grandchildrens lives and all of their activities. After retirement, she quoted, “I am more busy now than I was when I was working full time!” Angela enjoyed her enormous gardens and tended to them daily through out all of the seasons- which is a full time job. This was her happy place and often when you call her, she was right where she was. In her garden. Her other passions were photography. Angela always had the camera in her hand for all events from soccer games to running out getting ice cream. Placing 1st place in a few contest that she had entered! Something was always special going on and she always wanted to capture that moment!Angela was well known as the family photographer and the keeper of the family archives. Angela is survived by her son, David C. (Jeryl) Dorsa; daughter Laura J. (Thomas) Balga; Sister; Muriel Conreur, former Daughter in law; Diana Jones; grandchildren; Halie A. Dorsa; Jacob, Brian, and MacKenzie Balga as well as nieces Debbie (Jim) Bartucca; Kelly (Jim) Carney; Holly (Chris) Cruz and Jamie (Rich) Pellegrino; stepdaughter Debbie Caveretta and her Husband, Tom Anderson. Dear Jim and entire family-so sorry to hear of Angela’s passing-our deepest condolences-I had the pleasure of working with Angela at Arden House-many fond memories. Rest in Peace dear Angela.
Jim-
My heart is broken. Besides being my neighbors, you are my friends. I have fond memories of both of you, not only through politics but as wonderful, good people. I remember once after having surgery when Angela ran to me to help me change a bandage that I was having a problem with, and another time when she accompanied me to get a medical test. I will miss her smile and her visits to the office. My sincere condolences…. sorry I missed her services.
We are so sorry to hear of Angela’s passing. I worked with Angela at Arden for many years. Sincere condolences to the family.

Dear Jim, Laura, David and family
I just heard of Angela’s passing this afternoon. So sorry that I missed her service. My prayers love and condolences to all of you. We enjoyed having lunch or dinner every 4 months after we retired from Arden House and I picked her up for our last luncheon in September. She was a loving and kind person and nurse and dearly loved her family. Be blessed and comforted.
Love, Eva Smith and family
