Angelo Arthur Testa of Hamden, Connecticut passed away on December 1, 2021, at the age of 96.  After several months of declining health Angelo died peacefully at home with his beloved wife Fannie and two of his children by his side.  It was a source of joy for Angelo to celebrate both his recent 96th Birthday and the Thanksgiving Holiday at home.

Angelo was born in New Haven on November 14, 1925, to father John Testa and mother Josephine (DiMaria) Testa.  Angelo was a devoted and loving Son.   Most Sundays were spent, with his parents joining his wife and young family around his table for food, wine and espresso.  Throughout the holidays, Angelo would take his wife and children to visit and pay their respects to their Italian relatives. He was a man of incredible duty.

Angelo graduated from Boardman Trade School and served proudly in the U.S. Navy during World War II where he traveled the world.  A tool and die maker by trade, Angelo’s keen intellect and quick wit made him a leader.  He was beloved by his colleagues in the “tool room”.  Management often sought out his guidance and he had a profound influence on those who worked with him, including his eldest Son, John Testa, whom he mentored.  Angelo met the love of his life, Fannie Katherine Amarone at Griest Manufacturing and the two married on November 5, 1949.  They spent the early years of their marriage living upstairs in a flat, in the home owned by Angelo’s parents where their four children were born.  Fifty-seven years ago, they bought their first home together in Hamden, CT where they have remained since.  Angelo’s home was a source of pride and comfort, and no greater joy was experienced than when he was “working side by side” with his beloved Fannie maintaining their meticulous home.  In the last several years, Fannie served as Angelo’s principle and primary caretaker. Angelo always remarked that Fannie’s attentive care and selfless devotion made his long and happy life possible. It will be challenging for all, to imagine, one without the other. Angelo was preceded in death by his parents, and by his brother, Anthony Testa.  He is survived by his wife, Fannie, his sister, Artemisia (Artie) Carbone, his daughters, Joyce Planeta (Joseph), and Loretta Testa (Jim Hass), sons, John Testa (Janet), and Ronald Testa (Michael Brosché) and his grandchildren Joseph Vocatura (Kristin), Eric Winkler (Jamie), Jeffrey Vocatura (Tasha), Brian Winkler (Monica) and Alana Pomarico (Ciro Martone).  He is also survived by multiple great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

The visiting hours will be Sunday, Dec. 5th from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at The Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue.  A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday morning, Dec. 6th at 10:00 in Divine Mercy Parish at St. Rita’s Church, 1620 Whitney Avenue, Hamden.  Interment will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery. People wishing to honor Angelo’s life can make a donation in his name to the CT Hospice, Inc., 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405
