Ann Marsico DeLucia, 90, of North Haven, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 16th, 2023, at her home with her family by her side.  She was the beloved wife of the late Angelo Charles DeLucia, Sr. Ann was born in New Haven on March 31st, 1933, and was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Rose Criscuolo Marsico.  Ann grew up on Franklin Street, New Haven and as a child she loved to go fishing on their boat and spending summers at the family cottage in Morris Cove.  Ann graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1951, a “Green Street Girl”, where she excelled in basketball, softball and earned the name “Baby Ann”.  After graduation, she went to work at DeFelice Construction and then SNET where she also played on their basketball and softball teams.  She left her job to start her family, but also worked for the New Haven Board of Education-Adult Ed, teaching ceramics at Wilbur Cross High School.  She volunteered teaching youth ceramics for many years known for the Graduation dolls. Ann also volunteered at St. Michael’s School as a gym teacher where she coached basketball, volleyball and once a week made hot lunches for the children. In the summer, Ann taught swimming and was a lifeguard at Conte School. She coached her daughter Anita’s softball team at the Annex Little League.  Ann later went to work at Clelian Center at Sacred Heart Manor in Hamden and cared for the elderly.  A devoted Catholic, she was very close to the nuns of The Apostles of Sacred Heart and became a Eucharist Minister for the adults at the Clelian Center where she was awarded the Clelia Merloni Charism Award. Ann was known as the “Eggplant Lady” and had a secret family recipe for pickled eggplant that everyone just loved, and she would make them for the nuns to sell at their Holly Berry Festival.  Ann was an avid sports fan, she loved the NY Giants, NY Yankees, UConn Women’s Basketball team and win or lose, she always stood by them.  Mother of Louis DeLucia, Salvatore (Jacqueline) DeLucia, Angelo (Cheryl) DeLucia, Jr., and Anita DeLucia.  Grandmother of Salvatore, Dominique, Damian, Max and Mia.  Step Grandmother of Caitlin (Sammy) Masoud, Ryan and Christopher Stoddard. Great-Grandmother of Logan and Stella.  Sister of Rosemarie (Michael) Esposito and the late Alfonse (Terri) Marsico, Raymond (Antoinette) Marsico, Betty (Michael) DeLucia and Philomena (Peter) Vollero.

The visiting hours will be Saturday morning, Dec. 23rd from 8:30 to 10:00 at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A Mass of the Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish at St. Therese Church, 555 Middletown Avenue, North Haven at 10:30. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
