Anna M. Franco Marra, 93, of Kennebunk, ME, formerly of West Haven, CT, North Haven, CT and Marco Island, FL passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at Huntington Common, Kennebunk, ME. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank T. Marra. Anna was born in Hamden on June 18, 1924 and was the daughter of the late Carlo and Pasqualina Riccio Franco. She served her country faithfully in the US Army during WW II. Anna had worked as a secretary for the West Haven School System at Seth Haley, Alma Pagels, Colonial Park, and West Haven High School. Mother of Barbara Marra Walton and Richard Marra and his wife Linda. Grandmother of Jamia Gaffney and her husband Kevin Groskopf, Jennifer and Jessica Marra. Great-Grandmother of Jace Groskopf. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Predeceased by her siblings, Dominic, Anthony and Pasquale Franco, Phyllis Sternchak, Rita Mantovani, Mary Barretta and Jenny Powell.
Her funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Monday morning at 9:30. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Barnabas Church at 10:00. Interment will follow in Beaverdale Memorial Park. The visiting hours will be Sunday from 4 to 7 pm. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-9929.
Cousins, Barbara and Richie, I have so many fond memories of Marra family gatherings. Always sad and difficult to lose a beloved parent. Your mom and my aunt’s life was well lived. We wish you comfort and joy in those memories. So sorry we will be unable to celebrate her life with you. Kevin and Joyce
