Arthur E. Fredricksen, 87, of North Haven, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, June 5, 2021. Born on July 9, 1933, he was the son of the late Arthur E. Fredricksen, Sr. and Edith Ongley Russell. He grew up in New Haven and was a 1952 graduate of Hillhouse High School. While in high school, he met the woman who would become his loving and dedicated wife of 66 years, Dorothy Lemke Fredricksen. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
He earned an engineering degree from the University of New Haven while working full time supporting his family. During his 40-year career with the United Illuminating Company he progressed from a lineman to a Field Manager, to a Director and retired as a Project Manager in 1994.
He loved to tell stories of his UI days and to watch the Red Sox. He and Dorothy thoroughly enjoyed hosting family members and friends at their lake house in Stoddard, New Hampshire. There, he enjoyed fishing and spending time in one of his boats and playing board games. But he found the most joy spending quality time with his family and sharing his life experiences with his cherished grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Dorothy, he will be greatly missed by his children, Lynn Fredricksen and her husband Louis Angelucci of North Haven, Alan Fredricksen and his wife Wendy Fredricksen of Wallingford, and Jason Fredricksen of Westville. He also leaves his grandchildren, Anthony Adinolfi of New Haven, Samantha Lynch and her husband Conor Lynch of Jacksonville, Florida, Amanda Fredricksen of Shelton, Tucker Fredricksen of Wallingford and Julie Fredricksen of Wallingford. He was predeceased by his brother Peter Fredricksen.
Friends may call from 4pm to 7pm on Friday, June 11 at The Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, North Haven. Funeral services will be conducted at 11am on Saturday, June 12 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 3 Trumbull Place, North Haven. Interment will follow in the Memorial Garden at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations in Arthur’s memory may be made to the St. John’s Tower Fund.
Masks must be worn and social distancing observed at both the funeral home and the church.
I was saddened to learn of Art’s passing this AM. He was a member of Trinity Church On the Green when we were growing up and also a member of our graduatiing class 1952 Hillhouse High. He was always a kind and pleasant person to know when we both were on the reunion committee for high school reunions. We will miss him. My sympathy goes out to the entire Frederickson family and especially to Dot his wife who also was a member of the same class. May he rest in peace.
