Arthur Lawhorn, aka Jake, aka the Kidd, aka Arturo, aka Number 1, aka Ol’ Geezer, aka Uncle Peanut, from North Haven, CT mosied away to the big shindig in the sky on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 with his Spring Chicken (wife Evelyn) at his side. His departure is just in time for him to get the best seat in the house for football season, only to watch his favorite team the Cowboys lose over and over again. He leaves behind the memory of his great smile, his dedicated wife, two jive turkeys (daughters), wonderful siblings and other loving family and friends. If you knew Arthur, then you are one of the luckiest people on Earth. He was a gentle giant, as strong as an ox (or the mythical John Henry), a great listener, never uttered a swear word, never raised his voice except to sing sweetly, and was as kind as the sun is bright.

Arthur loved a lot things: his little Time Bandit (wife Evelyn), the tv show Law & Order, his vegetable garden, building anything and everything, double decker trains, his railroad buddies, riding camels in Egypt, fishing, being an honorary Girl Scout for sorting cookies year after year, doing everything barefoot, being mistaken for a professional athlete while traveling overseas, pulling pranks on his youngest daughter (Magee), making his homemade stews, listening to Phyllis Hyman’s sad love songs, road trips, his mother in-laws oyster stuffed blue fish with a side of Pepsi, sketching portraits and cartoons, and above all else PEANUTS!!!

In lieu of flowers please donate to Operation Smile in his name or just relax, go fishing and catch a big one for him. A Celebration of his life will be on Saturday, August 28, 2021, the viewing takes place from 9AM-10AM at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave, North Haven, CT 06473 with an interment following at All Saints Cemetery, 700 Middletown Ave, North Haven Ct 06473.
