Joseph Bellonio, Jr, 81, of Northford passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 21, 2014 at the Regency House, Wallingford. He was the husband of 58 years to Gloria Prentice Bellonio. Joseph was born in Hamden on August 27, 1933; son of the late Joseph Bellonio, Sr. and Giovina Carafa Bellonio; was the owner and operator of the Northford Mason Contractors for 48 years until his retirement. He was a lifetime member and obtained the rank of Lieutenant of the Northford Acres Volunteer Fire Department Company #3, helped build the firehouse; enjoyed traveling and was a member of the Northford Congregational Church. Father of Deborah Austin, Steven (Mona Lisa) Bellonio and the late Paul Bellonio. Grandfather of Danielle & Christopher Austin and the late Jessica Bellonio. Brother-in-law of Emily and Joyce Bellonio. Predeceased by brothers, John & Anthony Bellonio.
Funeral Services will be conducted in the Northford Congregational Church on Wednesday morning at 11:00. Interment will follow in Northford Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 pm at the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Northford Congregational Church Steeple Fund, Old Post Rd., Northford, CT 06472 or the Northford Acres Co. #3 Scholarship Fund, 1958 Middletown Ave., Northford, CT 06472.

I enjoyed the last few months with Joe.. I visited him often and talked about the new truck along with members from all 3 companies.. He had a lot of wit and humor at times.. He will be missed by many.. My prayers go out to the family..
