Claire Sikorski Stevenson, 91, of North Haven, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at the Masonicare Health Center, Wallingford with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late Richard Stevenson. Claire was born in Hamden on July 5, 1923; daughter of the late John and Julia Chahowski Sikorski and had worked as a Care Giver for the Agency for the Aging and spent most of her life taking care of others. Mother of Debra Pegram and Diane Schurk. Grandmother of Patricia Jordan, Richard Avino and Holly Schurk. Also survived by three great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Predeceased by her siblings Joseph, Anthony and Walter Sikorski, Stanley Sikorsky, Helen Gargano, Jean Jakubik, Josephine Gacey, Marion Kowalski and Eleanor Dwyer. The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to all the doctors, nurses and staff at the Masonicare for the excellent care and comfort they provided for Claire.
Her funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Tuesday morning at 10:30 am. Family and friends may call from 8:30 to 10:30 am. A Mass of Christian burial will follow in St. Therese Church at 11:00. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, CT Chapter, 2075 Silas Deane Hwy., Ste. 100, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
Aunt Claire, you were my absolute favorite!! I love your spirit and energy and sense of humor!! Just thinking of you makes me smile! You have been one of the unforgettable people in my life. I know Stash is thrilled to be with his twin again! Go rock Heaven, Aunt Claire!! I love you….
You will be missed Aunt Claire. You were always kind to me and greeted me with a hug and big smile. I have fond memories of you. You were the last of your family left. I am sure there is one big family reunion going on in heaven right now…love and prayers to your family here…
