Antonio “Tony” Ciccone, 61, of West Haven passed away suddenly on Thursday, April 21, 2016 with his wife by his side.  He was the beloved husband of 39 years to Mary Ellen Aveni Ciccone.  Tony was born in Naples, Italy on August 20, 1954; son of the late Joseph and Margherita Cardone Ciccone and came to this country at the age of fourteen.  Tony obtained a Bachelor degree in Chemistry from Fairfield University, a Master degree in Analytical Chemistry from Seton Hall University and his 6th Year in education from Southern Connecticut State University.  He had worked as an Electro Analytical Chemist for American Cyanamid and later as a school teacher for the Seymour School System for many years, and had also worked at Tre Scalini Restaurant, New Haven and later at his son’s restaurant 744 West of West Haven.  Tony loved the game of soccer having coached boys and girls soccer in Seymour, and was avid Naples soccer fan.  He also loved being a teacher and was well respected by his students. Tony was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and will truly be missed.  Father of Stephanie (Kenny) Shelinsky and Carlyle (Kristen) Ciccone.  Grandfather of Jackson K. Shelinsky.  Brother of Luisa (Giuseppe) Esposito, Dora (Francesco) Marino, Mario (Maria) Ciccone, Anna (Ralph) Iannaccone, Frank (Sue) Ciccone, Sylvia (Richard) Dechane, Enzo (Lori) Ciccone and the late Eugenio “Gino” Ciccone and Assunta “Sue” Seely. Son-in-law of Carlyle P. Aveni and the late Mary Antonia Cavaliere Aveni.  Brother-in-law of Skip Seely and Nina Ciccone.  Also survived by many nieces, nephew, great-nieces and great-nephews.

His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue Tuesday morning at 9:15.  A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Michael Church, New Haven at 10:00.  Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, New Haven.  The visiting hours will be Monday from 4 to 8 pm.
