Antonio “Tony” Ciccone, 61, of West Haven passed away suddenly on Thursday, April 21, 2016 with his wife by his side. He was the beloved husband of 39 years to Mary Ellen Aveni Ciccone. Tony loved the game of soccer having coached boys and girls soccer in Seymour, and was avid Naples soccer fan. He also loved being a teacher and was well respected by his students. Tony was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and will truly be missed. Father of Stephanie (Kenny) Shelinsky and Carlyle (Kristen) Ciccone. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, New Haven. The visiting hours will be Monday from 4 to 8 pm.
We just read the sad, sad news about "Tonin". We all worked together at American Cyanamid in Stamford. We play soccer together and tried to make garlic essence in the lab. A true, pure and heartfelt Neapolitan.
It is a shame that he is gone away. Tony, rest in peace. We will meet again one day.
Claudio and Linda Zampino.
There are no words to express the sorrow shock and sadness that fills our hearts today.
Tony was such an amazing charismatic person coach and friend. He left an everlasting impression on each child he coached and taught and played an important part in our son Bobby's life both on and off the soccer field,a true mentor. We will always have a special place for him in our hearts and are blessed to have known him.
Our deepest sympathy, love and condolences to all of the family.
We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.
Tony, we know you are looking down from heaven with your contagious smile laugh wit and amazing spirit and we will all remember you with love.
I can't believe it's time to say goodbye to one of the very best uncles anybody can ask for, we were so close and I'm going to miss our laughs and funny jokes together, it breaks my heart to see you, the family will never be the same without you uncle tony, I will love & miss you dearly, forever in my heart .
Frank and Sue… So sorry to hear of this sudden death of your brother way too early. He sounds like a really special man and I know you must all be grieving deeply right now.
My prayers go out to you and your large loving family.
So sad.
My heart stings of such sorrow in suddeness of this sadness. I was fortunate enough to have Mr. Ciccone as my chemistry teacher last year. I considered him family. He took it upon himself to write me a letter of reccomendation to Fairfeild University because he graduated from there and had it to me before June came to a close. He made it his mission to be thorough and into the common app as soon as possible. That meant a great deal to me. Mr. Ciccone I miss you already. The rest of this year is going to be different without you. And walking at graduation is going to feel a little out of order, because I watched you walk with the previous classes in the procession in your black gown and teal ribbon and couldn't wait for that to be my class with you and the rest of the staff ahead of us in the procession. I'm sure you and Avagadro will have so much to talk about up there and you can tell him how his number was your number too! And how you invented to glowstick but was gyped the credit. Rest In Peace.
I leave my condolences to the family of Mr. Ciccone. They have lost a brilliant, loving, hard working man who loved what he did and enjoyed every minute of what he did, as a teacher, coach, husband, father, and grandfather. As a former student, the news of Mr. Ciccone's passing is very heartbreaking to me and hope for the best to come to his family. I also would like to say that heaven has gained yet again another angel. Even though he has passed physically, spiritually he will always be remembered in the hearts of his family, current students, former students, co-workers and his memory will continue to live on within us always and forever. Thank you so much for what had bestowed upon your students Tony, we will never forget you.
Rest in Peace Mr.Ciccone.A truly wonderful man and teacher,
Ciao Tony ci manchi tanto.Che tristezza nei nostri cuori.
Caro Antonio,
Mario
Dearest Mary Ellen, lots of condolences for special husband Antonio. He is in gods hands! We will keep him in our prayers! Rest in peace! We are family of Milena y Ciro! We love you!we are close you know! God will give you strength to keep going! Kisses y hugs carolina y Rosa tabacco
There are really no words to express my dearest condolences. To this day, I speak highly about Mr. Ciccone. He was my chemistry and environmental science teacher and he made me fall in love with science. Having my own kids now, they ask who my favorite teacher was and his name will be mentioned and the memories flow in. I really don't think there was one student in Seymour that didn't want to be in his class and I was blessed to be sitting right in front of his desk in 2 classes. R.I.P Mr. Ciccone you will missed deeply!
To Maryellen and the Ciccone family, words cannot express how bad we feel about the passing of Tony.He was a great person and always had a positive attitude in life.will miss him. RIP
my prayers are with you.
Riposa in pace e veglia su tutti noi. Ciao Antonio.
Tony– You were a bright, passionate, easy going, guy, and we are so grateful to our cousin Mary Ellen for falling in love with you and making you a member of the Aveni Family. Though we feel robbed by your sudden departure we cherish the moments–pity there were not enough of them as we live so far away– that we spent joking, having fun, and especially talking seriously about your dedication to the education — mental, moral, and physical– of young people. We don't have to read the memorials on this site to know what an enormous impact you have had on your, in the family as well as the classroom. These young people will take your lessons, your ideas, and your values with them through life. Though you're gone, cousin Tony, you have been amply rewarded and we know with that you will rest in peace. Thank you for sharing a part of your life with us.

Death is nothing at all
Death is nothing at all,
I have only slipped away
into the next room.
I am I,
and you are you;
whatever we were to each other,
that, we still are.
Call me by my old familiar name,
speak to me in the easy way
which you always used,
put no difference in your tone,
wear no forced air
of solemnity or sorrow.
Laugh as we always laughed
at the little jokes we shared together.
Let my name ever be
the household word that it always was.
Let it be spoken without effect,
without the trace of a shadow on it.
Life means all
that it ever meant.
It is the same as it ever was.
There is unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind
because I am out of sight?
I am waiting for you,
for an interval,
somewhere very near,
just around the corner.
All is well.
My deepest sympathies.
Anna

I've been sitting here for hours trying to find the right words to express how deeply saddened and heartbroken I am over the loss of Tony; a man who truly was a father figure to me. Honest, loyal, and caring with a wild sense of humor, Tony was loved by all. I speak with a heavy heart on behalf of myself and everyone else that Tony has touched when I say that the earth has lost a remarkable man. To the Ciccones- who are like my own family and have loved and treated me like one of their own…Despite my brief absence, I'm always here with open arms full of love. RIP Tony, you will be missed. Love, Sean
