Julius “Jay” M. Garbero, 98, of North Haven passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 22, 2015 at the Cheshire Regional Rehab Center. He was the beloved husband of the late Bernice Butler Garbero. Jay was born in New Haven on January 15, 1917, son of the late Prospero and Ernestina Avadano Garbero. He served his country faithfully in the US Army during WWII; a graduate of Bay Path University; was the owner and operator of the North Haven Cleaners for 64 years and his work ethic astounded and inspired his family and friends. Father of Jill B. Garbero of Miami Beach, FL and the late Jay J. Garbero. Grandfather of Jay P. Garbero of Wallingford. Brother-in-law of Robert (Nancy) Butler and Robert Merkle. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his four brothers.
Private funeral service has been entrusted to the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue.
