Bonnie Boland (Mastroianni) was born in 1943 and was called to heaven on Saturday, May 5, 2018. In between she had one heck of a life.
Bonnie raised three children, Michael, Marc and Kimberly. As a reward for this she was blessed with several grandchildren, Mark, Marissa (deceased) Christopher and Matthew. Her grandchildren came to her pretty grown up and she loved and treated them all special. As a bonus, Bonnie had two great- grandchildren, Adrienne and Abigail, who will now be charged with carrying forth her amazing qualities and love of life. Her daughters in law, Madeline and Dianna loved her dearly and she will be missed by them and all of her family/friends. Bonnie is survived by one brother and three sisters
Bonnie held a special place in her heart for Veterans and spent much of her time giving back by making gorgeous lap blankets for disabled Veterans. Bonnie loved a good joke, (clean or not) along with burnt bacon and eggs over easy. She spent her last week eating an entire box of Hawaiian cookies all by herself without sharing a one, which was unusual, but she did love those cookies.
In lieu of flowers, please do something nice for a Veteran. A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Victory Church, 600 Jones Hill Road, West Haven on June 2nd at 9:00AM.

It has been many years since I’ve seen Bonnie. However, no amount of time can erase memories. In one word, she was FIERCE. I knew her when she was young, energetic, and untouched by illness. She was fiercly: devoted, no-nonsense and proud Mom to three rambunctious kids. She loved to cook, eat and laugh. She had a wonderful sense of humor, even though she was often the target. I will never forget her laugh. It was real, genuine and full of life– just like she was. After a rather loud reprimanding of one (ok, mostly likely both) of her sons, as she unfolded her arms from her chest, very quietly and sweetly, under her breath, she said “Being a Mom is never-ending, And it’s about loving your kids to death, even while they were driving you absolutely nuts. ” Now that I’m a mum, I completely get that. If I’m half as Fierce as Bonnie was in the Mom Dept., I know I’m doing allright. My sincerest condolences to Mike, Marc and Kim.
