Theodora Bertsos Karachristos, 56, of Hamden, passed away peacefully Monday, September 26, 2016 at her home with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of Gregory Karachristos; born in Makrisia, Greece on April 23, 1960; daughter of the late Christos and Konstantina Bertsos. Theodora and her husband were the owners of Gregs Tailor Shop in New Haven. She was an active member of St. Basil’s Greek Orthodox Church in New Haven. Mother of Basiliki (Robert) Spanos and Konstandinos (Angela) Karachristos. Grandmother of Theodora and Constantina Karachristos, Penny Christine Spanos, also expecting a granddaughter in December. Sister of Antonia (Athanasios) Karathanasis.
Family and friends are invited to go directly to St. Basil’s Greek Orthodox Church, One Tower Lane, New Haven on Thursday morning at 10:30 to attend funeral services with the Rev. Donat Augusta officiating and are also invited to attend the committal services immediately following in the Centerville Cemetery, Hamden. The visiting hours will be Wednesday from 5:30 to 7:30 pm in the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. Should friends desire memorial contributions may be made to St. Basil Greek Orthodox Church, P.O. box 9356, New Haven, CT 06433.
You were a real live angel amongst us and now God has called you back to take your rightful place by his side in heaven. Your love and kindness will forever live in our hearts.

I was very saddened to learn of Theodora's passing at such a young age. I wish to extend my condolences to the family for their loss. Although I only had a few personal conversations with Theodora over the years, it was immediately clear how fair and thoughtful and good- natured she was toward everyone. Vas's home was my second home because of no one else but her Mom. Every time I went home I was greeted with Theia's loving eyes, warm smile, and of course my favorite custard cake from Lucibello's. Her presence alone could touch your heart like no one else could. May her light continue to guide and give the Karachristos family love, peace and strength.
