Dr. Anthony Buemi, of North Haven passed away on March 3, 2016 at the Masonicare Health Center in Wallingford after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of the late Louise Marchitto Buemi. Born in New Haven on July 4, 1926, son of the late Salvatore and Marie Corvino Buemi. Anthony received his Bachelor’s Degree from UCONN and his Doctor of Podiatry from Long Island University. He practiced Podiatry for 53 years in North Haven and was well known for his house calls. Anthony proudly served his country in World War II, with the 20th Infantry Regiment, Company C. He earned the Bronze Star and Purple Heart in the Battle of Luzon in the Philippines. He enjoyed golf, model trains and ships, painting, fishing and making crab sauce. He was an enthusiastic fan of UCONN basketball, but his greatest pleasure was spending time with his family, especially the weekly Thursday night dinners. Loving father of Mary LoPresti of Hamden, Michael Buemi (Sharon McGourn) and Sally J. Buemi, both of North Haven. Beloved grandfather of Michael LoPresti, Anthony M. Buemi, Marie Hopperstad (Thomas) and Stephen LoPresti. Also survived by his great-grandson, Zachary Hopperstad. Brother of the late Marie Bartolini. Anthony is also survived by his best friend, his dog, Daisy.

His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Monday morning at 9:30. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Barnabas Church at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery with full military honors. The visiting hours will be Sunday from 3 to 7 pm.
