Albert E. D’Amato, 93, of North Haven passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Yale-New Haven Hospital/St. Raphael campus surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Cathryn Calabrese D’Amato. Albert was born in New Haven on May 16, 1922; son of the late Anthony and Frances Iovene D’Amato; served his country faithfully in the US. Army during WW II and had worked as a Letter Carrier for the US Postal Service for 38 years until his retirement. Albert enjoyed various outdoor activities and taking many trips with his wife. Father of Anthony D’Amato (Jamie) and Judy Ouellette (Steven). Grandfather of Craig Ouellette (Rebecca), Stephanie Nortman (Gregory) and Lindsey D’Amato. Also survived by several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by brothers, Leo, Frank and Vincent D’Amato; sisters Josephine Riccio and Annette Perrelli.
His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Saturday morning, Nov. 28th at 9:30. Family and friends may call from 8:00 am to 9:30 am. A Mass of Christian burial will follow in St. Barnabas Church at 10:00 am. Entombment with full military honors will follow in the St. Lawrence Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeke, Kansas 66675.
