Mychajlo (Michael) Kurylo, Sr., 95, of North Haven passed away peacefully on Thursday October 22, 2015 at the Masonicare Health Center, Wallingford. He was the husband of Pauline Auguste Wiebach Kurylo of 67 years. Michael was born in Kurylovka, Ukraine on March 10, 1920; son of the late Iwan and Ann Kozer Kurylo. Michael came to the United States from Germany on October 13, 1949 and lived in New Haven for 11 years before building his home in North Haven in 1960.Upon Michaels arrival to the U.S. he worked for Roesslers for 25 years and for Hummels Brothers for 11 years; Michael also served in the Ukrainian Division under the American flag during WW II in Germany; was a parishioner of St. Michaels Ukrainian Catholic Church since 1949 and a member of its Holy Name Society.  Michael was an avid organic gardener, tending to his apple trees, baking, and was a lover of the outdoors.  Predeceased by a son Mychajlo (Michael) Kurylo, Jr.; sister Jaroslawa (Walter) Kurylo Simko; brother Ivan (Ann) Kurylo; nephew Stefan Kurylo.  

Family and friends are invited to go directly to St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church Monday morning at 10:00 to attend a Mass of Christian Burial and are also invited to attend the committal services immediately following in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 569 George Street, New Haven, CT 06511. The North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue has been entrusted with the arrangements.
