Carmelo Milici, 99, of Cheshire passed away peacefully at his home Monday, November 28, 2016 with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of 61 years to Angelina Milici. Carmelo was born on August 27, 1917 in New Haven; son of the late Michele and Maria Milici. Father of Michael Milici (Pamela) of Cheshire. Grandfather of Crystina, Elaina and Michael Milici, and Brother-in-Law of Graziella Milici. He was predeceased by his brother, Giuseppe, and sisters, Carmela, Concettina and Rosina, of his native Novara di Sicilia, Sicily.
He re-immigrated to Connecticut in 1953 from Sicily and was a longtime resident of Hamden, CT. He was a skilled carpenter and enjoyed a long career as a cabinet maker. He was an avid soccer fan and dutifully followed his team, Inter. He was beloved for his sense of humor and enjoyed making his family and friends laugh. When not watching soccer or joking with his grandchildren, he could often be found eating sweets or playing cards.
His Funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Saturday morning at 9:30. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 10:00. Entombment will follow in the All Saints Mausoleum. The visiting will be Friday from 4 to 8 pm.
My sincerest condolences to the Milici Family
Carmelo, I will always remember how you opened your heart and home to me every time I came through your door. Always had a smile on your face as you passed your bowl of candy my way. The way you got excited when your soccer team was winning, or when one of your grandchildren was visiting with you. I especially will always remember the gleam in your eyes when your beautiful wife sat next to you holding your hand. You will be in my heart.
I’m so very sorry for your loss.
We are so sorry. We miss you so much. Rest in peace dear uncle Carmelo, you’ll always be in our hearts. All my love to Mike and all the family.
