Carol “Carrie” Proto DiMartino, 96, of New Haven passed away peacefully on Friday, September 16th, 2022 at Yale-New Haven Hospital with her family by her side.  She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph A. DiMartino.  Carol was born in New Haven on December 18, 1925 and was the daughter of the late Dominic and Trifomena Vessicchio Proto. During her younger years, Carol worked for the SNET Company leaving to raise her family, then she was the office manager for her family’s business DiMartino Aluminum Products, now known as DiMartino Home Improvement.  Very active throughout her life, she was a member of the St. Andrew’s Ladies Society since 1985, St. Ann’s Society at St. Michael’s Church, the Annex Y.M.A. Ladies Auxiliary, the East Shore Senior Center and sang in the choir at St. Michael’s Church. Carol volunteered her time for 25 years at the Branford Adult Day Care and while there she enjoyed doing arts and crafts, distributing, and selling her talents at many fairs; she also enjoyed giving and sharing her crafts to family and friends. A selfless, loving, and giving woman, Carol was always there to help and share with others, making her excellent homemade soup, pasta and pepper biscuits for her family and friends (especially her grandchildren). Carol was loved by all and will be truly missed.  Mother of Karen Zimbardi (Anthony), David DiMartino, Joseph A. DiMartino, Jr. (Nydia) and Robert DiMartino.  Also survived by 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her brother Salvatore “Sonny” Proto and sister Millie Esposito. The family would like to extend a “Special Thank You” to the 7th Floor Neuroscience I.C.U. at YNHH for the excellent care they provided to Carol.
