Carol Janakowski Canty, 79, of Quinebaug, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 28, 2023, at The Arden House, Hamden. She was born in Webster, Massachusetts on October 18, 1943 and was the loving daughter of the late John and Vivien Sherby Janakowski. She had worked as a Spanish and French teacher at Shepard Hill Regional High School for many years. She enjoyed traveling, especially class trips to Europe with her students, historical houses, watching horse racing, and the ocean. Carol will be remembered for her devotion to her mother, father, and her son Jason who she loved unconditionally. She was willing to make any and all sacrifices for them wholeheartedly and will be missed by all who knew her. Devoted mother of Jason Canty (Nancy McGraw). Also survived by many nieces and nephews, her very best friend Mary Brousseau, and her two loving neighbors Lucille and Tess.
The visiting hours will be on Thursday, May 4th from 4 to 7 PM at The Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. Family and friends are invited to go directly to St. Paul VI Parish at St. Rita’s Church, 1620 Whitney Avenue, Hamden on Friday morning, May 5th at 11:00 to attend a Mass of Christian burial. Interment will be privately held in the family plot in Webster, MA on Saturday, May 6th.
Jason & Nan, so very sorry about the passing of your beautiful Mother. You should be so proud to know that you loved her unconditionally and always looked out for her.
