Carol Tartagni passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, with her loving family by her side after a selfless and courageous battle with long-term illness. She was born in Woodbridge, CT on December 23, 1933, daughter of the late John and Rose Cirasuolo. A lifelong resident of West Haven and Orange, Carol had a love of nature and the outdoors. She enjoyed watching the birds in spring, gazing at the ships sailing in the harbor in summer, admiring the foliage in fall, and spending winters by the water in Naples, Florida. She was a devoted wife to her husband Joe (“Pop”) for over 66 years, taking care of him until her very last breath. The last survivor of ten children, Carol was a wonderful cook and natural caregiver. She enjoyed antiquing, tending to her roses, and most importantly, singing with and telling stories to her grandkids and spending time with her family. Her four children, ten grandchildren, and four great grandchildren were her pride and joy. Her family loved her and will deeply miss her.
Carol is survived by her beloved husband Joseph Tartagni, four children, Carol MacLeman (George), Dr. Joseph Tartagni (Donna), Lisa Cellini (Tom Dionne), and Susan Tartagni-Pacelli, ten grandchildren, Jennifer MacLeman (Shane Sudduth), Sara Boyd (Lee), Kate MacLeman-Haugh (Tommy Haugh), Dr. Jason Tartagni (fiancé Dr. Adrienne Cicero), Justin Tartagni, Stephen Cellini, Timothy Cellini, Joseph Tartagni, Caroline Pacelli, Nicolas Pacelli, and great grandchildren Jack and Tyler Boyd, and Jesse and Ian MacLeman. She was predeceased by her six brothers, Rocco, John, Ernest, Julius, George, and Gerald and three sisters, Ann Malinconico, Emily Purpora, and Gloria Longo.
The family will gather for private services Monday morning at The Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue before she is laid to rest at Mount Saint Peter’s Cemetery, Derby. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 45 Ash Street, East Hartford, CT 06108 or Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 101 Centerpoint Drive, Suite 107, Middletown, CT 06457
