Virginia Delano Bernardo, 89, of North Haven passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at the St. Raphael Campus/Yale-New Haven Hospital. She was the wife of the late Anthony J. Bernardo. Virginia was born in New Haven on May 16, 1925; daughter of the late Dominick and Mary Arenari Delano; had worked as a seamstress for the former Berger Brothers of New Haven; was a member of the North Haven Senior Center, the Twilight Tappers, the Red Hatters and attended Memory Lane of Wallingford. Mother of Regina Cerillo, Jeanann (Thomas) Ragozzino, Jr. Grandmother of Anthony, Marc and Stephanie Cerillo, Jaclyn, Michael and Nicholas Ragozzino. Great-Grandmother of Gianna Carrano. Sister of Marion Notaro and the late Mayme Saroka, Nicholas and James Delano. Predeceased by her son-in-law Marco Cerillo, Jr. Also survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Her funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue Tuesday morning at 10:30. Family and friends may call from 8:30 to 10:30 am. A Mass of Christian burial will follow in St. Therese at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
