Christine Zarbo Sgro, 102 years young of North Haven, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 24th, 2022, at Whitney Manor Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Hamden. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Sgro for 65 years. Christine was born in Ansonia on July 1, 1919 and was the daughter of the late Angelo and Mary Piccolo Zarbo. She worked as a supervisor for Sargent in the Key and Locks department for 16 years and retired in 1981. Mother of Judith Ann D’Aurio (Joseph-deceased), Elvera Jean (Michael) Gauthier and Joseph (Jackie) Sgro, Jr. Sister of the A. James Zarbo, Rose Bellio and the late Charles, Joseph, Zarbo, and Anna Cosenza. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Family and friends are invited to go directly to St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish at St. Therese Church, 555 Middletown Ave., North Haven on Thursday, March 3rd at 12:00 noon to attend a Mass of Christian burial and are also invited to attend the committal service immediately following in Saint Lawrence Mausoleum. Please omit flowers and make any memorial contributions for Masses or charity of one’s choice.
Even though I haven’t seen or been in contact with any of my fathers family auntie Chris always meant a lot to me growing up through my early adulthood and so is the rest of the family so I am very very sorry for her passing and express my love to all my aunts and uncles and cousins and great cousins even the ones I haven’t met yet. I haven’t been in contact with Chris since Christmas and am so sorry to hear of her passing. Richard and I loved seeing Chris years ago when we lived in CT. She was always a joy to be around. Rest in peace Chris, you will be missed. Love and prayers for the family.
