Costanzo “Bill” DeMarsilis, 100, of Hamden, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Yale-New Haven Hospital with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of 62 years to the late Jean Carroll DeMarsilis. Costanzo was born in New Haven on January 1, 1917; son of the late Domenico and Mary Torello DeMarsilis; had worked for John Hancock Insurance and later for New Haven Savings Bank until his retirement. Costanzo was an avid UCONN Girls basketball and Yale Hockey fan. Father of Joseph DeMarsilis, Janet DeMarsilis, Calvin (Nancy Navarretta) DeMarsilis, Mary (Kenneth) Melillo, John (Sallie) DeMarsilis. Also survived by 12 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren. Predeceased by his son Domenic DeMarsilis and his wife Peggy; a grandson Brian Lindsay and a brother Victor DeMarsilis.
His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue Tuesday morning at 10:30. Family and friends may call from 8:30 to 10:30 am. A Mass of Christian burial will follow in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in the St. Mary Cemetery, Hamden.

I will be forever grateful for the 16 years I had of knowing Costanzo, he was not only my Grandfather Inlaw but my friend. I always felt love and warmth every minute I spent with Costanzo. My life is better because of the opportunity to know this great man.

He lived a long and prosperous life here on this earth, but he is rejoicing now with your mother in God’s Kingdom. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
We were blessed to be neighbors of Mr. Demarsilis and were made to feel like family by both his wife and him every time. Our daughters loved him very much, he was like a grandpa to them. We will miss him and we pray for comfort and peace for the family at this time.

Sorry for the late response I’ve been out sick again. Both myself and Nancy and my daughters Danielle and Kelly send their condolenses. He lived a long and prosperous life and know he’s with his wife in heaven. We will say prayers for him and your mom.
