D. Richard Guglielmo, 91, of North Haven, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at the Yale New Haven Hospital/St. Raphael campus with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of 65 years to Lorraine Miranda Guglielmo. Richard was born in West Haven on April 16, 1926 and was the son of the late Frank and Velia Guiliano Guglielmo. He served his country faithfully in the US Army during WWII. Richard had worked as a Deputy Tax Assessor for the Town of North Haven and also as an Automotive Service Manager for Sears for 25 years until his retirement. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree, John Barry Assembly; a member of the North Haven Republican Town Committee, the Italian-American Club, Ridge Road Senior Center and the Jolly-Timers Club. Richard was a volunteer firefighter/fire police for over 50 years in the Town of North Haven. Father of Richard (Barbara) Guglielmo, Sharon (Kenneth) Muro and the late Gary Guglielmo. Father-in-law of Dianne Guglielmo. Grandfather of Richard, Gary, Michael and Thomas Guglielmo. Great-grandfather of Matthew Guglielmo. Brother of Anna Maffeo, Joseph Guglielmo and the late Palma Mingrone and Katie Pitisi. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Monday morning at 9:30. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 10:00. Interment with full military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. The visiting hours will be on Sunday from 3 to 7 pm.

Richard and Lorraine were members of my credit union for many years….He was a wonderful man and we had many great conversations over the years. I last saw him when he came in and closed his account a couple of years ago. I asked him if I could kiss him goodbye and told him he brought great joy to the staff of the credit union. My condolences to his family and his lovely wife Lorraine. Just know that he will be greatly missed.
