Nancy Depalma McMellon, 88, of North Haven, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at Yale New Haven Hospital. She was the wife of the late William McMellon. Nancy was born in New Haven on January 9, 1927; daughter of the late Cosmo and Elvira Bunocore DePalma. Nancy worked as a manager and loan officer at Bank of America for over 30 years, loved flowers and gardening and was an avid parishioner of St. Therese Church. Mother of Gayle Coakley of Basking Ridge, N.J. formally of West Haven, William C. McMellon of Palm Desert, C.A. formally of West Haven and Arthur D. (Karel) McMellon of Cheshire. Grandmother of Kevin (Jen) Coakley Ph.D, Erin Reed MD, Lauren (Scott) Messner MBA, Kara (Tim) Broga AA, Megan (Gavin) Kalnor BA, A.J. (Arthur Jr.) BA, and Anthony McMellon. Great-Grandmother of Alexandria McMellon, Damon and Abram Coakley, Lilly and Jackson Reed, Gavin and Cole Messner and Christian Kalnor. Also survived by her sister, Josephine (Gerald) Napier and the late Jack DePalma, Florence Rosenbrook, Frances Roach, Albert DePalma and Alice Amento.
Her funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave. Monday morning at 11:30. Family and friends may call from 9:30 to 11:30 am. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Therese Church at 12:00. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Lung Association, 55 W. Wacker Drive, Suite 1150, Chicago, IL 60601 and the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016.
Aunt Nancy, I will misss you so very much, I can not beleive you are gone. We were always very close and was very happy to haven been able to work with you over the last six months. I have so many wonderful memories with you and will always hold them close to my heart. i will miss our talks and the special moments we shared at Arthur's shop. you taught me so much in a short time and will do my very best to follow in your footsteps. I know you will be watching over me and will hear you say " so whats going on " all my love forever and always Valerie
