Daniel B. McGowan Sr., 79, of Sterling, CT passed away peacefully in his sleep after a brief illness on Monday, December 25, 2017 at Day Kimball Hospital, Putnam. He was the husband to Joanne Mumford McGowan. Daniel was born in New Haven on January 25, 1938 and was the son of the late Francis and Margaret Maselli McGowan. Daniel was a 1956 graduate of Hamden High School and a graduate of Eli Whitney Technical School. He was a member of the Victorian Boys Club, was a Journeymen Electrician for IBEW local 90, a avid fishermen and enjoyed going to various auctions. Loving father of Daniel B. McGowan Jr. and Gary McGowan. Loving grandfather of Erin and Samantha McGowan. Brother of Patricia Volpe and the late Frank McGowan.
Family and friends may call at the North Haven Funeral Home 36 Washington Avenue, North Haven Friday from 4 to 8 pm. Funeral services and interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

I am so sorry for your loss. Uncle Danny was the coolest. I remember the picnics in the Summer at the house in New London. Uncle Danny alawys had a smile on his face and was a great story teller. He and dad were of the generation of people who got it done and didn’t complain. I will miss him and know that my dad has his best friend at his side now. I am so sorry. I love you.

My condolences to Joanne and family on the loss of a true long time friend and member of the original Victorian Boys Club. We spent great times together at the club house and many road trips and adventures that I remember and cherish often. God’s speed my friend.
