It is with great sadness the family of David A. Tryanow, 69, of East Haven, announces his passing on Sunday, December 20th, 2020 at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He was the beloved husband of 46 years to Rose Manciero Tryanow. David was born in New Haven on April 10, 1951 and was the son of the late Carl and B. Ruth Bowden Tryanow. He was a loyal employee for Bob Thomas Ford for the past 40 years. Dave enjoyed passing his time by taking long rides on his motorcycle and spending his summers at NON-A-ME cottage in East Haven with his family and friends. The summers will not be the same without seeing him sleeping on the deck, swimming with his grandkids and fishing off the shore. However his biggest legacy is the kindness and generosity he showed to all he knew. He leaves a wake of stories that start with “Dave impacted my life by…” Many knew him as “Hugger Dave” for his unforgettable hugs that left a lasting impact. More than anything else he was a devoted family man. His children Alyson Gwiazda (Jack), Stephen Tryanow (Kristin) and Jessica Tresselt (Sean) will live in his honor by continuing to demonstrate goodwill and “paying it forward”. His 6 grandchild Austin & Macey Gwiazda, Isabelle & Adam Tryanow, Theo & Olive Tresselt will remember him by hearing stories about Poppy being the tickle-monster and showering them with love. He also leaves behind a sister Patricia Tryanow Walters (Fred) and many nieces and nephews. They will all “love you much” Dave.
A Celebration of David’s Life will be held on Monday, Dec. 28th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at The Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to East Haven Food Pantry.

Lloyd, thank you for sharing this. We love hearing these stories, especially from years ago. It is great to hear how others saw him and that even way back then he was still giving to others. He will be missed for longer than he would want us to but the stories help keep his spirit alive for us.

I first met David in September 1974 at Mantilia Motors. I was hired to work the shop counter and learn the automotive parts business from David. He became my Mentor. As time went on he would eventually become like an older brother. We developed a bond where we were in-synch so often ; he would begin a sentence and I would finish it. Any one who knew him must realize this tremendous loss. God bless his soul and his entire family. David ; see you on the other side.
Love, Greg
