DeWitt Todd Williams, 95, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 8th, 2021. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. DeWitt will be remembered for his beautiful smile, friendly banter, and quick wit. He was predeceased by his wife Rita (TenEyck) Williams, whom he married in 1949. DeWitt was born in New Haven on August 6, 1925 to Bert and Elizabeth (Huelsman) Williams.  At 16, he served as a State Guard Medical Corporal. At 17, DeWitt joined his siblings overseas in WWII, and served in the South Pacific as a Navy Seaman 1st class. After WWII, Dewitt worked at R. Wallace and Sons Silver Company and later, Columbia Studios in California. After moving back to Northford, DeWitt raised his family alongside his brothers. In 1950, DeWitt founded Williams Painting Company, which he ran with Rita successfully until their retirement.  DeWitt was a long time member of St. Andrews Church, where his family celebrated many milestones. DeWitt will be missed by his sons Bruce (Joan) and Donald (Deborah) Williams, of Northford, and daughter, Lucinda (Craig) MacCormac of Simsbury. He will also be missed by his six grandchildren; Rebecca (Brian) Fusillo, Greg (Amy) Williams, Ryan and Kimberly Williams, and Kenneth and Haley MacCormac, five great grandchildren; Kayden McGuirk, Aria, Tristan and Zavier Fusillo, and Lexie Williams, as well as his nieces, nephews and cousins. DeWitt’s family will be forever grateful to his compassionate caregivers Carol, Bette, Theresa, Anne and Zewdi. 

A private service will be held for the Williams Family on March 15th at 11:00 at The Northford Cemetery. A celebration of his life will be held for friends and family at a later date. Donations in memory of DeWitt can be made to St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 96 Northford, CT 06472.  The Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue have been entrusted with the arrangements.
