Dominic C. Scarano, a devoted husband, loving father and cherished grandfather passed away on March 24, 2024 in New Haven, CT. Born on November 5, 1932, Dominic was the son of Domenic and Maria Cangiano Scarano.

In 1952, Dominic joined the US Air Force, proudly serving his country until 1956. He later pursued higher education, graduating from Quinnipiac College with a degree in accounting. Dominic’s professional journey led him to roles as a controller at Nu-Stars Department Stores and an accountant at Axton Cross. Even in retirement, he continued to share his expertise, serving as the accountant for Commercial Cabinet and Burdon Enterprises until his recent illness.

Dominic was a member of the Knights of Columbus for over 50 years and a loyal supporter of the Yankees, Giants, Knicks and UConn Huskies. He enjoyed spending time with his family, macaroni dishes, and sharing Thursday diner breakfasts with his lifelong friend Ralph DeFrancesco.

Dominic is survived by his beloved wife Mary Louise, his children Dominic (Lorraine), Stephen, and Janet (Stephen), as well as his grandchildren Matthew (Lauren), Danielle, Dominic, Alex, and Emily. He is also survived by his sister Emma (Dante) Gulino.

Dominic was predeceased by his siblings John (Lucia), Louis (Rose), Pasquale (Emma), Louise (Vincent) Durso, Margaret (Hugo) Lendroth, and Michela Scarano Dominic’s legacy of kindness, dedication, and love will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing him.

He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his family, friends, and all who were touched by his warmth and generosity.

The visiting hours will be Tuesday, March 26th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue.  A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish at St. Therese Church, 555 Middletown Avenue, North Haven on Wednesday morning, March 27th at 10:00. Entombment with full military honors will follow in the All Saints Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association, P.O.
