It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved father, Dominic “Nick” Vincent Balogh, Jr. of Meriden, CT on Tuesday, March 5, 2024. He is survived by his children Ashley N. Balogh, Dominic V. (III) & Jessica Balogh, and Margaret M. Balogh; mother Anne Balogh; siblings Roseanne & Richard Ferraro, Christopher & Donna Balogh, and Stephanie & William Healy; grandchildren Dominic Balogh IV, Amelie Victor & Ian Victor; the mother of his children, Deidre D. Flowers; many nieces, nephews, and extended family. He is pre-deceased by his father Dominic V. Balogh. Nick was well-loved and respected by all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, integrity, and service to his community. Over the span of 30 years, he built and ran a successful construction company (Balogh’s Painting & Restoration), specializing in historic residential restoration. Over the course of being in business, Nick’s clientele was mostly comprised of repeat customers and referrals, who all recognized his remarkable craftsmanship and character. Nick was a role model and dedicated friend in the recovery community. Nick’s passions included playing drums, painting, reading, spending time with family, and catching a game. He grew up in Mount Carmel in Hamden with his mother, father, and three siblings. He was a talented multi-sport athlete who played for both Cheshire Academy and Hamden H.S. Following in his father’s footsteps, Nick joined the U.S. Air Force, where he specialized in Intelligence and met his future wife, Deidre. In recent years, he became a proud grandfather (“Pop”) and worked alongside his son in the family business. He was kind, generous, and would give you the shirt off his back if you asked him for help.
Family and friends are invited to join us in remembrance of his life and legacy at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue on Tuesday, March 12th from 4 to 7 PM. A service will be conducted in the funeral home at 7:00.

Dear Balogh family,
It is great sadness that I write this note to all of you. I will always remember Nick as a happy and kind person. After high school at Cheshire Academy where we played football together, I only saw Nick several times over the years, but when I did, it was like time stood still and we would immediately start talking about the old days! Regretfully, I will be traveling next week, so I will not be able to attend Nick’s service. You will all be in my thoughts and prayers during this most difficult time.
Warmest personal regards,
Michael Belfonti

Big Nick was my grandfather
I am truly saddened by this news, Nick and I became good friends in recovery, and fondly and with admiration talked about his children and his family.
I offer my heartfelt condolences to the entire family, a special hug goes to his brother Chris, who I went all through school with and we all lived up in Academy hill.
R.I.P. our friend ..
Deidre, Ashley, Nick, Maggie, and the entire family,
I’m so sorry for the loss of Nick. He was a genuinely good person. I remember several years ago when Deidre and I attempted to make calzones that were basically globs of partially melted cheese encased in dough that was the texture of plaster of Paris. Nick, in a gesture that was testament to his graciousness, ate one and commented us on our effort. I’m sure he will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.
Nick was such a great guy. I used to babysit him and his sisters and brother. So sorry for your loss.
Our kids were drawn to Nick whenever he was at our house. He called each of them “Squirt”. When he asked our daughter about school he made sure she knew that she should ask questions if she didn’t understand what the teacher was saying, especially in math (she was in kindergarten at the time). He sure spoke with adoration about his kids and grandkids. What a kind man. Rest in peace, Nick.
To Nick & family:
I am terribly sorry for your loss and hope you accept my genuine condolences. It’s so unfortunate Mr. Balogh’s light departed the world too soon. Please take comfort in the many wonderful moments you did have and truly treasure them. May his memory and spirit be an eternal blessing. Your dad/uncle/grandpa will forever be within you all. Healing and peace to everyone, God bless.
Warm Regards,
Ken
