Donald Irish Pritchard, 78, of Branford passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 28, 2017 at his home with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of 53 years to Josephine Palumbo Pritchard. Donald was born in New Haven on January 12, 1939; son of the late Robert and Margaret Irish Pritchard; served his country faithfully in US Marine Corp during the Vietnam era and had worked as the New England District Manager for Proctor & Gamble for many years until his retirement. Donald was a former Hamden Police Commissioner; was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and was devoted to his family whom he loved unconditionally. Father of Donald P. Pritchard (Angela) and Linda A. Pritchard. Poppy of Kayleigh “Shooter”, Vincent “Scooter”, Caitlin “Shake-n-Bake”, Sean “Sparky” and the late Jacqueline “Jelly Bean”. Brother of Jack Pritchard and the late Robert and Roy Pritchard. Also survived by his long time, dearest and closest friends Robert “Fonz” and Elaine Bessinger and their family.
Funeral services will be conducted in the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue Wednesday morning at 10:00. Interment with full military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 pm.
